Instructor, Customer Service Professional Pathways

Gary is the Instructor of Customer Service Professional Pathways and of Foundations of Public Health Informatics & Technology.  Previously, he was a Health IT Training Programs Specialist at Futuro Health. Gary has an extensive background in education, teaching, and training and loves helping others learn.

Prior to coming to Futuro Health, Gary was an Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems at College of the Desert. Prior to this he had his own IT support business.

He began his professional work in IT and training at Symantec Corporation.  He started as a telephone technical support agent, advanced to technical support team Supervisor, and went on to be Manager of Training & Quality for all telephone and online technical support and customer service agents for that 300-seat call center.  He also trained online technical support agents on site in Bangalore, India.  He continued his work in corporate training as Manager of Quality & Training for a company with about 800 telephone customer service representatives at three call centers in Oregon, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, supervising a team of 18 trainers and quality agents.

Before his work in corporate training and IT, Gary was a practicing attorney in Oregon, admitted to the Oregon State Bar, the United States District Court for Oregon, and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.  He specialized in Bankruptcy and Business Reorganizations.

He is a contributing author to Learning Objectives for the National CyberWatch Information Security Fundamentals course (NCC 210), Curriculum Standards Panel, National CyberWatch Center (2018), contributing editor of The Law of Oregon Non-Profit Organizations, Oregon Law Institute (1985), presenter, “Cyber Sleuthing Simplified – Computer Forensics for Attorneys” and “Legal Ethics in the Digital World”, Desert Bar Association, Palm Desert, California and guest lecturer in  Appellate Practice at Willamette University College of Law.

Gary holds a J.D. from Willamette University College of Law, a B.S. from University of Oregon, a Certificate in CCNA Cybersecurity Operations from CISCO, a Forensic Computer Examiner Certificate from California State University East Bay, and a Computer Examiner Certification from the International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners.
