Growing Your Own Allied Health Workforce
What is GROW?
GROW is a 3-year pilot program for Health Net providers in Sacramento, San Joaquin, and Stanislaus counties.
Our mission is to help providers build a sustainable pipeline of skilled, culturally concordant Medical Assistants (MAs) by training 60 local candidates—including many current employees.

Futuro Health brings a proven workforce development model designed to prepare Medical Assistants for long-term success:
Career Training
Hybrid MA program (17 weeks online + 80–160 hour externship with provider/employer).

Support to earn the NHA-CCMA credential.

Language support for learners as needed.

Shared Goals
Together, we will:
- Strengthen local MA talent pipelines.
- Improve workforce stability and reduce turnover.
- Support delivery of quality, culturally concordant care.
- Build lasting training capacity within provider organizations.
YOUR ROLE
As a participating provider, you’ll:
- Recruit Candidates: Nominate current employees or new hires (18+, U.S. HS diploma/GED, English proficient, legally eligible to work). Enroll providers in training between August 2026 and June 2027.
- Provide Paid Training Hours: Pay candidates their hourly wage during coursework and externships, in line with labor laws.
- Host Externships: Offer externship placements so trainees can apply their skills in real-world settings.
- Support Preceptors: Designate staff to complete the 24-hour online preceptor training, compensate them for training time and allow them to supervise externships.
FUTURO HEALTH’S COMMITMENT
In return, Futuro Health will:
- Cover tuition for the MA program.
- Provide Success Coaches, wraparound supports, and skill-building courses.
- Offer data tools to track learner progress and outcomes.
- Deliver preceptor training to strengthen long-term supervisory capacity.
