Building Stronger Teams in the Age of AI

Futuro Health recently brought team members together in San Diego for a two‑day, in‑person all staff meeting centered on connection and collaboration. During the gathering, Futuro Health welcomed keynote speaker Dylan Hendricks of the Institute for the Future, who led a thought‑provoking session on “Community Building in the Age of AI.” His remarks highlighted how emerging technologies are reshaping the way organizations work and underscored that strong teamwork and shared purpose are essential to applying AI effectively in support of Futuro Health’s mission. Staff left the session with a clearer understanding of how AI can support their work, particularly as a tool to expand thinking, strengthen problem-solving, and better serve learners and employer partners. The discussion also reinforced the importance of collaboration and shared learning across teams, equipping staff with practical ways to thoughtfully integrate emerging technologies while staying grounded in Futuro Health’s people-centered mission.

Futuro Health Scholar Spotlight

Damian W.
Futuro Health Scholar
Emergency Room Technician Program

When both of his parents faced health challenges and Damian spent his days visiting them in the hospital, he witnessed the exceptional care they received. That experience inspired him to pursue a career in healthcare so he could provide the same level of care to others.

Damian first heard about Futuro Health through his friend’s father and was excited to learn about the Emergency Room Technician pathway. During his program, he was selected as a Futuro Health Ambassador and created a TikTok sharing his career transition and how Futuro Health scholarships helped make this opportunity possible at little to no cost. His video quickly went viral, reaching over 600,000 views in just one month. Now, Damian is excited to launch his career in healthcare, support his community, and provide life-saving care. “Spreading the word about Futuro Health was important to me because I want people to be able to access a resource like Futuro Health.”

Our Latest Blog: Healthcare Works Best When No One Works Alone

By: Van Ton-Quinlivan, CEO, Futuro Health

Healthcare often celebrates breakthrough technologies, new treatments, and cutting-edge research. Yet one of the most powerful drivers of better outcomes isn't a new invention at all. It's teamwork.

The reality is simple: no one can do healthcare alone.

For decades, healthcare systems were organized around institutions and specialties — leaving patients to navigate a maze of providers, appointments, referrals, and paperwork. The burden of coordination fell on the person who could least afford to carry it: the patient. Today, a different model is taking hold. Person-centered care recognizes that patients are more than a diagnosis. They are individuals with unique circumstances, pressures, and lives. Meeting their needs requires physicians, nurses, medical assistants, community health workers, behavioral health specialists, social workers — and often, prevention first — working together as a coordinated team.

Caitlyn Brazill, President Of Per Scholas: Turning Structural Gaps Into Tech Career Opportunity

Tech occupations are projected to grow at roughly twice the rate of the overall U.S. workforce over the next decade, yet 87% of technology leaders say they face challenges finding skilled talent. On this episode of WorkforceRx, we're going to take a look at a model for supplying that talent developed by Per Scholas, which provides no-cost, employer-aligned technology training to adults at more than 25 locations across the U.S. “What makes our model work is we train people for real jobs that employers are actually hiring for, which means our curriculums are co-created with industry partners and updated continuously so that our learners are graduating with skills that are immediately relevant,” says Per Scholas President Caitlyn Brazil. As she explains to Futuro Health President Van Ton-Quinlivan, the non-profit has helped more than 30,000 people launch tech careers, generating a collective $2.1 billion in income gains. In addition to sharing real stories of learners who have changed their economic trajectories working in tech, Caitlyn also offers insights on why the tech skills gap is structural, not cyclical; why millions of tech roles are projected to go unfilled by 2030; and why technology can be a tool for equity instead of a barrier to it.
