As we observe this Thanksgiving season, I am grateful on so many fronts.

We appreciate our Scholars: Futuro Health has touched over 9,000 lives since our launch four years ago. We see our impact in their smiles (see graduation photo below) and their personal stories. With 85% of healthcare facilities reporting a shortage of allied health workers, the call to action is great to unlock talent who otherwise would remain untapped. We are so proud of all our Scholars who embarked on personalized education journeys toward their in-demand healthcare credential.

Futuro Health CEO Van Ton-Quinlivan has been named to a select list of Silicon Valley leaders featured in De.Coded – A Human Atlas of Silicon Valley , a social-impact art platform. Leaders featured in the new book gathered at The School of Arts and Culture and The Packard Foundation in San Jose on October 28th.

Episode #71: The Doctor Shortage Is About More Than Numbers

Like all states, California is facing a shortage of physicians but today’s WorkforceRx guest says the definition of shortage needs to go beyond just numbers to include their practice location and cultural diversity. “Oftentimes, we don’t have enough access to physicians in particular areas or to culturally dynamic physicians,” says Lupe Alonzo-Diaz, president and CEO of Physicians for a Healthy California. As she explains to Futuro Health CEO Van Ton-Quinlivan, PHC tackles the issue by expanding physician training opportunities in underserved areas and by incentivizing early career physicians and dentists to accept Medicaid patients through loan forgiveness. “ This engaging conversation also explores trends in team-based care and previews a new report on how physicians who are women of color fared during the pandemic.
