Futuro Health Creating Opportunity for Next Generation Healthcare Workers to Staff Mass Vaccination Hubs

Under the banner of the California Vaccination Campaign, Futuro Health has mobilized allied health and nursing students and faculty to join with healthcare systems in the frontline battle against COVID-19.  The effort is also providing a much-needed solution to the state’s shortage of licensed allied health workers, providing students with access to the clinical hour requirements for direct patient care necessary to earn licensure.  Even with temporary vaccine shortages creating a pause, hubs will resume operations soon.

Just Released! New Report Examines State’s Shortage of Allied Health Workforce and Offers Strategies to Address Critical Bottlenecks

California depends on a well-trained workforce of health professionals to provide quality care to the state’s diverse population. Allied health roles make up 60 percent of the care workforce—and are in high demand and short supply. California Competes, a policy research organization, conducted a study to assess demand for clinical placements and identify policy solutions to address the bottleneck caused by the lack of availability of and access to clinical training hours. The report offers an analysis of strategies to meet the growing need for clinical placements with recommendations on how California should move forward.

Join CA Competes for a webinar featuring this new research and a panel discussion with California Assemblymember Evan Low, Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs Vice President Dr. Stacy Ocander, Sacramento City College Director of Nursing Dr. Carel Mountain, and with Futuro Health CEO Van Ton-Quinlivan. The virtual event will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at 10 a.m. PST.

Annette is the oldest of five kids and it was her little sister who encouraged her to enroll in Futuro Health. Despite not having been in school for the past 10 years, Annette hit the ground running and describes her experience as overwhelmingly positive. The best part about the program has been able to do it from home,” said Annette. “Overall, it’s given me an opportunity to do things at my own pace and not have the overhead of having to physically be somewhere. Secondly, one of the best parts about the program is that a huge portion of the cost has been covered and I’m very grateful for that!

Annette is also deeply grateful for her Futuro Health Navigator, Lalaine, whom she says has been a wonderful source of encouragement and positivity. Annette is poised to complete the Medical Assistant Program and plans to continue her education after she earns her credential
